While you're home during the COVID-19 Quarantine, you can still dine in style and in fashion. How? Recreate your favorite restaurant's ambiance or create your own fashionable and stylish experience at home. Whether you're preparing your own meals or supporting your favorite local restaurants through their carry-out or delivery service, take time to set your table in a way that makes you feel like you're dining out.
Dust off your china, polish your silver, give your 'stay-at-home clothes' a much-deserved night off and re-engage with your spouse. For a more casual experience that your whole family can enjoy, try a themed dinner based your children's favorite movies or activities. Or, take your crew outside and re-engage with them by having a picnic in your backyard. (See below for details on how to win one of three restaurant gift cards and table settings).
To help you dine in style, follow this link to my Facebook Page and leave your name in the Comments for a chance to win a place setting and gift card from one of the following three restaurants. Winners will be announced Monday, April 20.
Keren P won the Dee Lincoln Prime experience.
Erin Hanby won the Haywire experience.
Colleen DeBard won the Fork & Fire experience.
I hope you enjoy learning about how these locally-owned and operated restaurants are helping their employees and the community during the COVID-19 crisis and will consider supporting them the next time you're in the mood to order out.
The Star - Frisco
Gift Certificate: $179 - Steak and Wine Dinner for Two
Place Setting for Two
Dee Lincoln Prime offers carry-out meals (available for pick-up or delivery) for both couples and families, including slow-braised short ribs, grilled shrimp & steak skewers and vegetarian pasta.
Lovingly known as 'The Queen of Steaks,' Dee Lincoln Prime Founder and 30-year Plano Resident Dee Lincoln is designating 50% of gift card sales to a relief fund for her employees. She's also finding creative ways to pay her staff and to show her gratitude to those working on the front lines of the COVID-19 crisis. Last week, for example, her staff prepared and delivered box lunches to St. Andrew's United Methodist Church for the Plano Police Department.
Legacy West - Plano
Place Setting for Four
Part of the locally-owned Front Burner Restaurant Group, Haywire offers curbside pick-up from its daily carry-out menu, including chicken-fried steak, grilled chipotle meatloaf and whiskey BBQ ribs.
Front Burner recently launched Furlough Kitchen to keep its staff employed and to assist the community. A collaboration between the restaurant group and its catering arm, along with CitySquare and Vestals Catering Company, Furlough Kitchen serves free individually-packaged meals to furloughed hospitality employees - regardless of their previous employer.
Granite Park - Plano
Place Setting for Four
From pastrami sandwiches to salmon dinners for four, Fork & Fire is providing farm-to-table 'survival meal kits' to its customers and, at the same time, serving the needs of the community.
'Because we hunger for each other' is both a mantra for the locally-owned and operated Plano restaurant and a proxy for the way Founders Jason and Jodi Garman are doing business. They recently provided free Easter meals to families who may have otherwise gone without one - a selfless act by any measure, but particularly heartwarming considering Fork & Fire opened its doors just 15 short months ago. Also, when you purchase a $100 gift card,* the eatery will donate a meal to the recipient of your choice.
*redeemable when Fork & Fire reopens its dining room.
